This building was originally constructed in 1915 as New Ulm High School, and was listed on the Register of Historic Places in 2015. The building was rehabilitated into Emerson Union Apartments by Community Housing Development beginning in 2018 with National Window completing their work at the beginning of 2020. National Window installed new historic wood replica Kawneer aluminum windows and refurbished the existing steel windows. National window also installed Allied Window storm windows behind the newly refurbished steel windows.
